In the Studio: Illustrations complete for ‘You Can’t Cure A Witch’s Curse’

The illustrations for the next book You Can’t Cure A Witch’s Curse are now complete, minus some little touch ups (darkening the darks etc.). Woohoo!

I discovered early on in the illustration process that it’s difficult for me to work on a draft and illustrations at the same time. I think it’s because they’re both forms of storytelling for me.

Editing is a totally different story though. I’ve gotten much better at seeing my work objectively, and it really is a ‘right brain activity’ (yes, I know that theory is debatable, but it’s a good way to explain things). Now that the illustrations are finished, I can get back into editing You Can’t Cure A Witch’s Curse and work on the draft for book two alongside it.

In terms of release, I’m not sure how I’m going to go about it. I may release them all digitally as I complete them, and release the paperbacks as a trilogy upon completion. Or, I might release the eBooks when they’re all done, and the paperbacks after that. Or just release them all as I go. Comments welcome. A different perspective is always useful.

Enjoy the gallery 🙂

  • I love how well you progress with each creative thing you do.

When I released The Royal Gift and Kateti, I found I was a lot more relaxed when I did the paperbacks a few months after the ebooks.

Thought I’d replied to you, sorry Drae! I think I will go eBooks first, and maybe do a soft launch (it’ll be winter here anyway). I don’t think it would be much fun if I *didn’t* progress with each project! 🙂
